Health Benefits of Eating Seafood

Scallops are a great source of Vitamin B12... A nutrient that is proven to enhance cardiovascular health. Vitamin B12 is essential for the body to convert homocysteine (a chemical that can immediately damage blood vessel walls into other constructive chemicals). Because high levels of homocysteine are affiliated with an increased risk for atherosclerosis, diabetic heart disease, heart attacks and stroke, it seems to be extremely beneficial for your diet to include a plentiful amount of vitamin B12 to help keep homocysteine levels low. Just four ounces of scallops contains 33.3% of the daily value for Vitamin B12.

A high consumption of Vitamin B12 has also shown to protect against colon cancer. Vitamin B12 helps to defend the cells of the colon from mutations as a result of cancer-causing chemicals... Yet another motivating consideration to add plenty of Vitamin B12 to your diet!

(There are three types of cancer that Vitamin B12 is suggested to provide serious protection against: Leukemia, Multiple Myeloma and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma).
