Matlaw's™ CrabMeat Products
Matlaw’s pasteurized crab meat is derived from swimming blue crab (portunas pelagus), the most common crab found throughout Asia. Our primary source is Indonesia. We source the product throughout a wide area at various buying/picking stations.

The crab is always cooked live at the picking station. It is then quickly cooled and the meat is picked and roughly graded. Once picked, the meat is packed in tubs, and immersed in ice, for transportation to our major packing facility in Surabaya , Indonesia.

In Surabaya, the meat is more finely graded, packed in tubs and/or pouches and then pasteurized at a high temperature. It is then quickly cooled again and stored at 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

To get real price comparison one has to look at country of origin as one benchmark, and then actual piece counts per grade as another.

The larger lump product inevitably goes to food service. The claw and special are most commonly found at retail, thus the small pack sizes which allow for aggressive retails.

The raw material is available to us 12 months a year, although there are some minor variances during the rainy season. But by and large we will be able to ship every month of the year. CrabMeat products have a 18 month Shelf Life.
